Living with HIV/AIDS



Tonye Torrence, 50, is is one of the many people in South Carolina who is living with AIDS.

Fenicia Rosario works on the computer at home as her son sleeps on her bed. Rosario gave up her son for adoption after he was born but recently found him after searching on the internet. He now lives in Piedmont and visits Rosario when he can.



Brian Erb, works on his lawn in the front of his house during late afternoon hours. The medicine he takes for his AIDS is ultra-violet sensitive which forces him to wait until the sun is lower in the sky before he can do yard work.



Tonye Torrence, who has AIDS, often walks to his infusion treatments, and other places around Anderson, when he feels he has the energy. He says the walking keeps him active.

A timber rattle snake sits in its cage at Oconee Reptiles in Walhalla. Timber rattle snakes and copperheads are the only two venomous snake found in the Anderson area.

Jim Farmer of Oconee Reptiles holds a black rat snake. Black rat snakes are not poisonous and not aggressive. According to Farmer, they can be useful for rat and mice problems.

Emergency crews responded to a fatal wreck on 436 La France Road in La France on Friday afternoon. Two teenage boys were involved in the accident. One died on scene and the other was taken from the site.

Start of 2009

Mr. Casey, who is from Abbeville, was running errands in Anderson on his day off work. Despite the cloudy and cool weather he decided to stop and fish with his son while they had some down time.

Mrs. Gerrard brought Vickery a pineapple pound cake to help celebrate her 101st birthday. Vickery is at the Willow Creek Living Center for short term rehabilitation and has plans to go back to her home in Anderson. She lived next to the Pleasnat View Baptist church in Anderson for several years and watched after many of the ministers children giving her the nickname, "Nanny".



Glenn Rodway looks underneath a sink to repair its plumbing in the bathroom of 228 Foster street. The bathroom and other areas of the house are being repaired and upgraded as part of a block grant the city received through the Appalachian Council of Governments.






Pendleton High School's C.J. Gleaton plays three sports for the Bulldogs; football, baseball and basketball. He is an all-region player in all three sports.

Ronald Harris and his dog "Libby" were helped out of Harris' 18 wheeler through the windshield by members of the Broadway Fire Department on Tuesday morning. Harris' truck flipped on its side after making a turn on to Snow Road in Anderson. Both Harris and his dog did not suffer any major injuries.

Both Flat Rock and Starr Fire Departments responded to a house fire at 1010 Lakemont Road in Anderson County around 4:15 on Monday afternoon. The house is considered a total loss. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.



Chase Sanders of the Rock Springs Fire Department walks by the remnants of an abandoned home that caught fire on Sunday afternoon. Rock Springs and Ebenezer Fire Departments responded the fire off Shirley Drive near Broadway Lake shortly after 1 p.m. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
